Transparency: cbdMD seems to be going through a transition with their third-party testing practices. Until recently, they only released a lab report for the CBD concentrate they use for all their products, but would not show potency testing for individual products. That seems to be changing. Currently, the only lab report on the website is for their concentrate (and it’s over a year old). But if you contact customer service, they’ll send you a lab report for any product.
This tincture is processed using the brand’s signature ‘Gold Formula,’ a full spectrum blend of terpenes, phytocannabinoids, fatty acids, and vitamin E. The endocannabinoid system is spread throughout your brain and body, but primarily throughout your central nervous system. The interaction between cannabinoids and receptors is what produces effects like the regulation of mood, pain, appetite, inflammation, and memory. Plant-based cannabinoids, found in cannabis plants, also interact with the receptors (whimsically named CB1 and CB2) in the endocannabinoid system, and each affects your body in different ways. CBD and its infamous cousin THC are the 2 most well-known cannabinoids.

The popularization of cannabis in Canada boomed in the 1960’s, due in part to the “hippie ethos” which spread northward from the United States. Cannabis was being discussed in underground newspapers and on underground radio stations across the country. College students were rejecting traditional values and began to question law makers and authority figures.
Hemp derived CBD oil with a THC level OVER 3% is legal in Canada with a prescription, from a licensed supplier or dispensary. CBD oil with a THC level BELOW .3% is legal in Canada, for personal use only, without a prescription. However, it is not approved for resale without an NPN from Health Canada. So you can NOT sell it, unless they have a number. So... if you want it without a prescription... you have to import it from a US company. I like this one...
You might also be wondering how long does it take for CBD oil to work after ingesting it? CBD effects individuals in different ways, so this really depends. Generally speaking, CBD oil should start to take effect within an hour, but it could take as little as 20 minutes on an empty stomach. The opposite is also true; it will take longer to kick in if you have just eaten a huge meal.
Great article! Excellent point by Matt, precisely why I found this article. I would just add that the CBD percentage in the extract can be significantly lower than even the 20%, but its probably fair to use that to give a rough idea how much CBD might be in an Amazon product, so divide the claimed percentage by 5!. Claims of up to 60% on Amazon are totally ludicrous, any concentration above 20% CBD become darker very viscous and the CBD starts to crystalize in the bottle! You would need to heat the bottle (which can damage the properties of the carrier oil) to re-liquidize! Also beware of Amazon reviews which are notorious for being fake. As author suggests, contact seller for full data sheets or seek a reputable supplier elsewhere that gives full transparency of information up front.
The question “Is CBD oil legal in Canada?” has been on everyone’s mind since the Cannabis Act was passed on October 17th. There has been some confusion about which products are actually legal and which are not. But there’s good news…CBD oil is indeed legal! As long as you are purchasing your oil from Health Canada or a Licensed Producer you are in the clear.
